HeartCode® BLS
The American Heart Association HeartCode® BLS course is the blended learning format of the BLS Provider training. It combines an online, self-paced learning module with an in-person skills session conducted by an AHA Instructor.
The online portion allows participants to complete the cognitive (knowledge-based) component at their own pace, reviewing high-quality CPR techniques and emergency response skills. The in-person session focuses on hands-on practice and skills testing to ensure competency in CPR and AED use for adults, children, and infants.
Course Content Includes:
-
High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
-
The AHA Chain of Survival for in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings
-
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
-
Effective ventilations with a barrier device and bag-mask device
-
Team dynamics during multi-rescuer resuscitation
-
Relief of choking for all age groups
Course Format:
-
Part 1 – Online: Complete the HeartCode® BLS eLearning module via the AHA’s online platform
-
Part 2 – Skills Session: Attend an in-person skills practice and testing session with our AHA Instructor
