Heartsaver® Adult & Pediatric First Aid CPR AED (Blended Learning)
The American Heart Association Heartsaver® Adult & Pediatric First Aid CPR AED – Blended Learning Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs certification for job requirements or who wants to be prepared for emergencies. This course combines the flexibility of online learning with an in-person skills session to provide comprehensive, hands-on training.
Participants first complete the online portion at their own pace, which covers how to recognize and respond to a wide variety of medical, injury, and environmental emergencies in adults, children, and infants. The course also includes CPR training and AED use. The in-person skills session focuses on practicing and demonstrating the skills learned online under the guidance of an AHA Instructor.
Course Content Includes:
-
First aid basics: scene safety, calling for help, and recognizing emergencies
-
Medical emergencies: breathing problems, choking, allergic reactions, heart attack, stroke, seizures, and shock
-
Injury emergencies: bleeding control, wounds, burns, broken bones, sprains, and bites/stings
-
Environmental emergencies: heat- and cold-related injuries, poison exposure
-
CPR and AED use for adults, children, and infants
-
Relief of choking in all age groups
Course Format:
-
Part 1 – Online Learning: Complete the Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED eLearning module via the AHA website
-
Part 2 – In-Person Skills Session: Attend a hands-on skills practice and testing session with an AHA Instructor
Certification:
Upon successful completion of both the online and in-person portions, participants receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED eCard, valid for two years.
