BLS Instructor Course

The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Course prepares qualified individuals to teach the AHA BLS Provider Course to healthcare professionals and others who require CPR training.

This course is designed for current AHA BLS Providers who have a strong understanding of BLS concepts, excellent CPR skills, and the desire to teach others how to save lives. Candidates will learn how to conduct AHA courses, evaluate student performance, and maintain compliance with AHA guidelines and administrative policies.

Course Content Includes:

• AHA Instructor requirements and responsibilities

• How to plan, organize, and teach BLS Provider Courses

• Skills testing, remediation, and student evaluation

• Use of AHA course materials, Instructor Manual, and Instructor Essentials

• Administrative requirements including roster completion and eCard issuance

• Monitoring and renewal process for Instructors

Prerequisites:

• Current AHA BLS Provider certification

• Successful completion of the BLS Instructor Essentials online course (prior to attending)

• Affiliation with an AHA Training Center (we provide alignment upon course completion)

Certification:
Upon successful completion of the Instructor Course and required monitoring, participants receive an American Heart Association BLS Instructor eCard, valid for two years.
